CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – In line with the Department's mandate as the Vice Chair of the Disaster Preparedness Cluster of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), DILG R3 conducted a coordination meeting cum workshop on the preparation of the Regional Disaster Preparedness Plan on November 11, 2016 with members of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council 3 (RDRRMC-3) and P/CDRRMOs from selected LGUs as participants.
The objective of this activity is to finalize the Cluster Accomplishment for CY 2013-2016 and to draft a Cluster Plan of Action for CY 2017-2022 in accordance with the National Disaster Preparedness Plan.
In her opening remarks, Monitoring and Evaluation Division Chief Lerrie S. Hernandez said that this activity is important in ensuring the safety of the community when it comes to disasters.
"As members [of the Disaster Preparedness Cluster], we are given a huge responsibility of capacitating our LGUs in disaster preparedness. With this task, skills training and development are important but what is especially critical is the commitment of all stakeholders- the NGAs, LGUs and communities, in order to safeguard the lives of everyone," MED Chief Hernandez said.
Series of presentations and workshops were given to the participants in order to assess the gaps in the current Cluster Plan of Action. After which, they also gave inputs on how to address these through their draft of Plan of Action for CY 2017-2022.
Pursuant to RA 10121 or the Philippine Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, the National Disaster Preparedness Plan is aimed to reduce the loss of lives and property by aiming at safe and resilient communities.
