DILG Secretary Mar Roxas visited the cities and municipalities of Dinalupihan, Balanga and Morong, Bataan on May 7, 2015 to personally witness the completed DILG projects as well as extend his good wishes to the project beneficiaries.
“Ang mga proyektong ito ay galing sa inyo at tiyak na angkop sa pangangailangan ninyo”, said the Secretary in his message giving emphasis to the Bottom Up Budgeting (BuB), a project which gives chance to local leaders and communities to speak up for the specific needs of their LGUs.
Sec. Mar first visited Barangay Payangan of Dinalupihan which is an Indigenous Peoples (IP) Community to inspect the water supply project under Sagana at Ligtas Na Tubig Para Sa Lahat (Salintubig) amounting to P3M. The project benefitted 217 families who warmly welcomed and thanked the Secretary. DILG-3 Regional Director Florida Dijan, Governor Albert Garcia, Dinalupihan Mayor Angela Garcia, Samal Mayor Generosa Dela Fuente and DILG Bataan Provincial Director Myra Moral were present to assist the Secretary. In the same event, six BuB checks amounting to Php 11,104,528.96 were also distributed to Local Chief Executives of Abucay, Bagac, Dinalupihan, Pilar and Samal.
Barangay Cupang Central in Balanga City was the second destination of Sec. Mar where he inspected together with City Mayor Jose Enrique “Joet’ Garcia III the completed project under the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) which is the construction of concrete revetment and repair of Sluice Gate at Cupang River amounting to P3M and Rehabilitation of Drainage Canal with concrete cover at Brgy. Cupang West amounting to P400,000.
Representatives from the different organizations in the city appreciated the national government for the projects implemented in their localities. They likewise requested Sec. Mar to provide their concerns for medicines, scholarships and senior citizens’ ward which were all positively considered by the SILG.
Lastly, Sec. Mar went to the municipality of Morong and addressed the crowd by encouraging them to constantly partner with the national and local governments in identifying and implementing projects that will be beneficial to them.
