DILG R-3 Regional Director Karl Caesar R. Rimando had a meeting with Olongapo City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino Jr. on February 9, 2022 and discussed the COVID-19 situation in the city. Mayor Paulino said that as a response to the pandemic, the city government established a molecular laboratory to expand COVID-19 testing. In terms of vaccination, "the city has already achieved 'herd immunity' surpassing even the 70% of the city's population", said the mayor.

 On the other hand, RD Rimando shared his experience during his stint as regional director of DILG R8, especially his guidance to Mayor Richard Gomez which helped the latter to improve COVID-19 response in Ormoc City. He also promised the re-augmentation of contact tracing activities in the city.
RD Rimando was accompanied by DILG Pampanga Provincial Director Myrvi Apostol-Fabia. RD Rimando lauded all DILG Olongapo personnel as they beat COVID-19 while still serving their roles and responsibilities. He also expressed his commitment and support to the city office in providing the best service to their clients.
