City of Malolos, Bulacan- DILG Bulacan in partnership with the Liga ng mga Barangay Bulacan Chapter conducted an Orientation on Federalism last March 14, 2017 at Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium. The activity which was attended by 569 Punong Barangays and duly authorized representatives was in consonance with the current Administration's call for a shift from current form of government to Federal form of government.

During her message, DILG Regional Director Julie J. Daquioag highlighted that change should always emanate first among us. She urged all Punong Barangays to take the initiative in informing their respective constituents about Federalism especially during the conduct of the upcoming Synchronized Barangay Assembly Day (SBAD).
To provide the participants the fundamentals of Federalism, Atty. Pilipinas Baclayen, Legal Officer of DILG Region 3 discussed the topic of Federalism 101 wherein the participants were given knowledge on the present Presidential-Unitary form of government and the proposed Federal form of government. Likewise, Mr. Tony Isidro of Project Management Office - Task Force Federalism briefed the participants on the elements of Federalism and shared tips on how to present it during the SBAD.

Ret. Col. Danilo Bugay, Chairperson of MRRD-PENAMFED Bulacan further promoted the advantages of the said form of government and stressed that the shift to Federalism is a way for real change.

Also present in the Orientation were Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, Vice Governor Daniel R. Fernando, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members - Hon. Therese Cheryll Ople, Hon. Felix Ople, Hon. Enrique dela Cruz, Hon. Ma. Lourdes Posadas, and Hon. Mark Cholo Violago, Vice Mayor Aldrin Sta. Ana of Bocaue, Bulacan, DILG Bulacan Field Officers, representatives from DILG PMO- Task Force Federalism, PENAMFED Coordinators and members from the media.
