In line with one of the Department's advocacy of promoting environment-protective LGUs, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Office 3 participated in the City Wide Clean-up Day led by the City of San Fernando, Pampanga on February 1, 2017.
The activity was done simultaneously in the City with various government offices conducting their own clean-up activities.
Among the objectives of this is to raise the awareness among the Fernandinos regarding their commitment to a clean and healthy environment and to inculcate proper garbage segregation and collection. It also aimed to institutionalize a regular clean-up within the city.
Through the leadership of RD Florida M. Dijan, the DILG R3 personnel worked hand in hand to clean their office premises from 6am to 8am as part of the Department's support towards the City's timely endeavour. The clean up was focused on clearing the waterways, roads and vacant spaces within the premises of the Regional Office which is very prone to solid waste materials and other unnecessary garbage.
At the end of the clean-up, a total of 94 bags of solid waste categorized as bio-degradable and recyclable materials were collected. (LGOO II Vivorey S. Lapitan)
