BULACAN – A safer and better housing site awaits at least 45 families from Brgy. Tatalon, Quezon City with the ceremonial turnover and ribbon-cutting of the newly constructed Micro-Medium Rise Building (MMRB) and Livelihood Center Project at Brgy. Mapulang Lupa, Pandi, Bulacan, on November 22, 2016.
The MMRB is a part of the Php 50B Alternative Housing Program and People's Plan (AHPPP) Fund which is a result of the agreement between urban poor groups and the government for the provision of socialized housing for Informal Settler Families (ISF).
The Pinagsamang Mamamayan Maralita sa Tabing-Ilog Association Corporation (PMMTIAC), a people's organization living in the 3-meter easement of San Juan River in Brgy. Tatalon, Quezon City are the beneficiaries of the Pandi MMRB. This came about as the group negotiated with the LGU of Pandi, Bulacan to have their MMRB constructed at Brgy. Mapulang Lupa.
Upon reaching an agreement, both parties signed a Memorandum of Agreement where it was stated that a 45-unit MMRB and Livelihood Center amounting to Php 30,000,000 would be built.
During the ceremony, Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Director Florida M. Dijan greeted the beneficiaries of the MMRB project as well as all the people who worked for the Project. She also expressed her delight for the beneficiaries who would be able to start anew with their new homes.
"Ibibigay sa inyo ng national government ang bahay pero nasa inyo ang pagkakataon na gawin itong isang tahanan," RD Dijan said.
On January 11, 2016, the Pandi MMRB had its groundbreaking ceremony and MOA signing which was led by then Pandi Mayor Enrico A. Roque and then SILG Mel Senen Sarmiento.
Throughout the construction, DILG closely monitored the project through its Regional Office and ISF Project Monitoring Office. Several inspections and meetings also took place to track the progress of the project and to address any issues that may arise.
Pursuant to DILG's mandate under RA No. 6975 and the Memorandum Circular 2015-56, DILG was tasked to spearhead the transfer of the ISFs through the People's Plan Fund (PPF). This project's main goal is to promote and strengthen the collaboration of the DILG, LGUs and people's organization through working together in the planning and designing process of the MMRB.
