SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA - The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region III (DILG R3) participated in the 3rd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today, September 28, 2016 at 9:00 A.M. to ensure preparedness during complications of an actual earthquake.

The drill started with a 1-minute alarm that indicates earthquake or shaking which signaled the personnel to perform the standard procedure of "duck, cover and hold". After the alarm, everyone went out, and proceeded to the Evacuation Assembly Area in front of the building covering their heads, and following the evacuation plan posted in each room. The assigned team leader per division/section performed headcount to assure that all employees are present in the assembly area.
Spearheaded by the Office of Civil Defense, the NSED was conducted simultaneously nationwide to educate the public how to respond during an earthquake. It is also a preparedness measure, especially for the possible 7.2 magnitude earthquake in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The objectives of the activity are (1) to understand the impact of the M 7.2 earthquake in NCR, Region III and Region IVA; (2) to understand the command and control mechanisms in disaster management operations of the N/DRRMC members and the Assisting Regions and (3) To strengthen the interoperability between N/DRRMC, MMDRRMC, Assisting Regions and four quadrants Emergency Operations Center (EOCs) process to attain unity of efforts and develop a common operational picture through a communications exercise.
On the other hand, to further build the capacity of every individual, families and households to become disaster resilient, the Operation Listo is an advocacy program of the DILG which led to the creation and dissemination of the Disaster Preparedness Manuals emphasizing the measures to do before, during and after disasters.

Sa panahon ngayon, "sa kamay mo nakasalalay ang kaligtasan mo! Maging L!STO".
