OLONGAPO CITY- The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 3 in its mandate to capacitate the Local Government Units have conducted Provincial Action Planning in Mainstreaming CCA-DRR in Comprehensive Development Plan at Subic Bay Travelers Hotel, Olongapo City.
The objective of the activity was to provide knowledge about Climate- Disaster Risk Assessment highlighting on the information requirements and to have a harmonized action plan on the preparation/updating of development plans that will address issues, shared risks and development priorities of the province. The activity was attended by the P/C/MPDOs, C/MLGOOs, Representatives of Local Research Institutes and other National Government Agencies.
Monitoring and Evaluation Division Chief Lerrie Hernandez said that the 5 areas of the development sectors such as Economic, Social and Infrastructure must be held by strong Institutional Sectors to attract more investors that will lead to a greater development.
HHRO Ibani Padao of Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) discussed the importance of the Hazard Maps, Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment and Priority Decision Areas in evaluation of the sensitivity and exposure of community to disasters.
All seven Provinces drafted their own Provincial Action Plan together with their PPDO and MPDC. Partner NGAs and LRIs also express their commitment on the said project.
The activity significantly concluded with the inspiring message from Regional Director Florida Dijan who also expressed her gratitude to LGUs, NGAs and LRIs who never ceases to support activities of the department.
