TARLAC – The municipality of Victoria, Tarlac was recognized as the top performing LGU in the Municipal Category for the concluded 2014 National Environmental Compliance Audit (ECA) on June 20 during the municipality's Flag Raising Ceremony.
A cheque amounting to Php 1,000,000.00 was awarded by DILG Region 3 Regional Director Florida M. Dijan and Monitoring and Evaluation Division Chief Lerrie S. Hernandez to Mayor Candido R. Guiam III, along with the other local officials of Victoria.
In her message, RD Dijan commended the efforts of the LGU of Victoria in efficiently and effectively delivering projects and programs which are vital to the everyday life of the townspeople. She also expressed confidence to the new set of upcoming local officials in bringing positive change to their municipality.
"Kami po, walang pag-aalala dito po sa bayan ng Victoria na makakakita pa kami ng maraming pagbabago, marami pang development (para sa ikabubuti ng mga mamamayan dito)," RD Dijan said.
The said award was based on the audit of the LGUs' compliance to RA 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 which includes: the presence of a 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan, Solid Waste Management Board, No Segregation, No Collection rule, the practice of segregation at source, a functional Materials Recovery Facility, disposal to sanitary landfill, and the presence of no littering- related ordinances.
For the HUC/Component City Category, Quezon City was recognized as the 2014 National ECA Awardee.
