Local officials and functionaries can now easily propose and execute project plans for their communities as strategies and procedures of the Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) program were imparted to them.
Through the initiative of the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region III, in coordination with the Office of Project Development Services – Water Supply and Sanitation Unit (OPDS-WSSU), almost 300 participants were oriented on the FY 2015 BuB Feasibility Study and Project Proposal Preparation last June 15-17, 2015 at Subic Bay Travelers Hotel, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
The free orientation and workshop consisted of discussions about the salient features of the BuB program, approaches on drafting and preparing technical proposals, and strategies for the completion of project proposals including design and other related documents for Potable Water Supply and Other Projects (DRRM, Access Roads, Evacuation Facilities, etc.).
DILG Cluster Team Leaders and Provincial BuB Focal Persons joined the Local Chief Executives, City/Municipal Planning Development Coordinators and City/Municipal Engineers during the three-day orientation and workshop.
LGUs crafted their action plans containing their activities for the BUB projects starting from the pre-implementation up to the post implementation phase along with the corresponding timeframe and personnel in-charge for each task.
The activity was conducted to capacitate the LGUs in implementing programs for the development needs of target cities and municipalities. It is one of the schemes adopted by the DILG in line with the efforts of the National Government on the 2015 BuB implementation to ensure the inclusion of the funding requirements in the budget proposals of participating National Government Agencies.
