Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) launched Bahay Pagbabago Reformation Center on November 8 at Zion Hall, Camp Manuel F. Cabal as part of its conceptualized Community-Based Recovery and Wellness Program designed for mild to moderate drug reformists.
OCPO presented the 60 drug surrenderers from different barangays of Olongapo who will undergo the 30-day reformation program of the Bahay-Pagbabago. The program will be composed of spiritual, moral and physical activities as well as livelihood trainings. Reformists are expected to become stronger, spiritually oriented and a better person before their reintegration to the community.
"Umaasa ako na maliwanag sa lahat ng nandito ngayong umaga na sa kabila ng ating pakikipaglaban sa ilegal na droga ay nais din nating bigyan ng pagkakataon ang bawat isa na makapagbago at makapamuhay ng naaayon sa batas ng Diyos at ng tao," said PCOL Benjamin D. Sembrano in his message delivered by PLTCOL Avelina A. De Guzman to the reformists.
Mayor Rolen C. Paulino, Jr., gracing the event, cited the anti-illegal drug activities of the city government. He promised to support the rehabilitation program and provide livelihood for those who will finish the rehabilitation program.
Also during the undertaking were City Councilor Lugerna Lipumano-Garcia, Punong Barangays, LGOO II Vincent E. Catacutan, DILG, and representatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, City Government, religious sector and media.
The Bahay Pagbabago will be a centralized Reformation Center which shall cater the drug surrenderers of all the barangays of Olongapo City. It will also support the existing Community-Based Rehabilitation Program of the City Government.
