GUAGUA – A new and improved jail facility in the municipality of Guagua is on its way as the construction for the District Jail has already commenced.
DILG PD Myrvi A. Fabia and Cluster Head Jose Algy B. Canlas led an on-site inspection of the Php 40M facility together with JSupt Jerome Verbo and discussed about the plans and schedule of activities relative to the completion of the facility.
According to JCI Verbo, the 3-storey facility, which stands on a 1-hectare lot at Brgy. Ebus, would be a great help in easing the congestion problem of the jails as it can accommodate up to 1,000 inmates upon operation. Currently, Guagua District Jail has 1000% congestion rate. Hopefully, the new district jail will be completed and fully operational by 2020.
In 2018, the Pampanga Peace and Order Council chaired by Gov. Lilia "Nanay" G. Pineda recommended and approved the provision of fund for the purchase of lot and fencing for the construction of said facility to address the congestion of jails in Pampanga.
